The Beatles

The Beatles

Consisted by John Lennon (rhythm guitar, vocals), Paul McCartney (bass guitar, vocals), George Harrison (lead guitar, vocals) and Ringo Starr (drums, vocals), The Beatles were formed in Liverpool in 1960.
At the beginning, and for three years, the group build their reputation inside various clubs in the city of Liverpool and Hamburg.
Stuart Sutcliffe, the lost beatle, left the group in 1961 and, in the following year, so did Best who was replaced by Starr.

Brian Epstein, a music store owner, became the group's manager and by late 1962, The Beatles, achieved mainstream success in the UK with their first single "Love me Do". Over the next year the group gain international popularity, and they toured extensively until 1966.
After the extensive tour, they retreated to the recording studio until their break-up in 1970. Each one of them found success independently.

In 1980 New York City, John Lennon was murderer right outside his home... And in 2001, Harrison died of cancer.
Fortunately McCartney and Starr are still alive and remain active. :)

And so, here are my two favorite musics from The Beatles.
Hope you like it! :D

Pink Floyd

Pink Floyd

Known by the their psychedelic and progressive rock music style, by the use philosophical lyrics, and outstanding live concerts the Pink Floyd became one of the Greatest Bands Ever to exist with more then 200 million albums sold worldwide.
Created in 1965, the band originally was formed by Roger Waters, Nick Mason, Richard Wright and later on Syd Barrett. They first became popular playing in London's underground music scene in the late 1960s.

The first band leader was Syd Barrett, and the band released two singles, and a debut album, The Piper at the Gates of Dawn in 1967. One year latter, Barret left the band due to mental problems, and months after David Guilmour joined the Pink Floyd as a guitarist and vocalist.

With the departure of Barrett, who was the principal songwriter, the bassist and one of the vocalist of the band, Roger Waters took Barretts place, and became the band's lyricist and conceptual leader, and with him the band achieved worldwide successe, releasing the albums: The Dark Side of the Moon, Wish You Were Here, Animals and last but not least, the Wall.

Wright left the group in 1979, and Waters in 1985, but Gilmour and Mason continued recording and touring around the world. Roger Waters tried to keep them from performing as Pink Floyd, but it was unsuccessful, and so the group released two more albums, A Momentary Lapse of Reason and The Division Bell.

And almost two decades after that, in 2005 the group reunited once again for a single performance at the Live 8.

So today i'll leave with two of my favorite songs from the Pink Floyd, both from the Pulse concert and its a way to show you how elaborate their live shows were. Just brilliant! :) Hope you enjoy!

Cheers!

The Rolling Stones

The Rolling Stones

On April 1962, in the fantastic city of London, The Rolling Stones were born with the original band members guitarist and harmonica player Brian Jone, pianist Ian Stewart, vocalist Mick Jagger, guitarist Keith Richards, bassist Bill Wyman and finally the drummer Charlie Watts.
In the beginning Brian Jone was the leader of the band, but since Jagger and Richards were the songwriters later on, they assumed the leadership of the group.

During the British Invasion, in the 60's, the Rolling Stone became famous, and its estimated that they have sold 200 million albums worldwide!
They are considered the number 4 band, on the 100 Greatest Artists of All Time in the Rolling Stone magazine.

Long years have pass, and most of the original band members left the band, but still The Rolling Stones continue with their unique style and quality, they still do fantastic live shows, and Mick Jagger still looks like a 20 year old guy on stage. :)

And so, today i'll leave you with my favorite song from the rolling stones and no, its not "Start me up". I've heard this song a lot on difficult times during my life... I hope you like it!

Jimi Hendrix

JIMI HENDRIX

Formed in september 1966 in Londo, Jimi Hendrix, the bassist and backing vocalist Noel Redding and the drummer Mitch Mitchell created The Jimi Hendrix Experience. This Experience influenced a lot on todays music, especially on the Hard Rock and the Heavy Metal scene.

Jimi Hendrix is considered the greatest guitarist ever by various music publications, writers and me :P. All three of the band's studio albums are ranked on the Rolling Stone list of The 500 Greatest Albums of All Time.

  • Are You Experienced - Position 15
  • Axis: Bold as Love - Position 82
  • Electric Ladyland - Position 54
As you can see this is my first post on my new blog, so i chose Jimi Hendrix, since his music inspired me a lot on certain steps of my life.
You can excepte more great classics from me :)

I leave you with my favorite song, Voodoo Chile. This song was recorded at about 7 a.m. and it took only three takes and the final 15 minute version was Hendrix's longest studio recording.

Cheers!
