Pink Floyd

Pink Floyd

Known by the their psychedelic and progressive rock music style, by the use philosophical lyrics, and outstanding live concerts the Pink Floyd became one of the Greatest Bands Ever to exist with more then 200 million albums sold worldwide.
Created in 1965, the band originally was formed by Roger Waters, Nick Mason, Richard Wright and later on Syd Barrett. They first became popular playing in London's underground music scene in the late 1960s.

The first band leader was Syd Barrett, and the band released two singles, and a debut album, The Piper at the Gates of Dawn in 1967. One year latter, Barret left the band due to mental problems, and months after David Guilmour joined the Pink Floyd as a guitarist and vocalist.

With the departure of Barrett, who was the principal songwriter, the bassist and one of the vocalist of the band, Roger Waters took Barretts place, and became the band's lyricist and conceptual leader, and with him the band achieved worldwide successe, releasing the albums: The Dark Side of the Moon, Wish You Were Here, Animals and last but not least, the Wall.

Wright left the group in 1979, and Waters in 1985, but Gilmour and Mason continued recording and touring around the world. Roger Waters tried to keep them from performing as Pink Floyd, but it was unsuccessful, and so the group released two more albums, A Momentary Lapse of Reason and The Division Bell.

And almost two decades after that, in 2005 the group reunited once again for a single performance at the Live 8.

So today i'll leave with two of my favorite songs from the Pink Floyd, both from the Pulse concert and its a way to show you how elaborate their live shows were. Just brilliant! :) Hope you enjoy!

Cheers!
