Arctic Monkeys
The year was 2002, and the place was High Green, suburbs of Sheffield. A small band that started working with the Yellow Arch Studios played their first gig at The Grapes.
This song was played at their first gig in 2003, the name of the song is "Ravey Ravey Rave" and is one of the songs never released by them.
By the end of their gigs, cd's were given away to the public, with 17 songs. The cd is now knowed as the Beneath the Boardwalk.
More demos were made, and also given away for free. The group did not mind this way of distribution as they say "we never made those demos to make money or anything. We were giving them away free anyway – that was a better way for people to hear them. And it made the gigs better, because people knew the words and came and sang along", admitting saying that they did not even know how to get their songs onto the Internet.
Their debut album Whatever People Say I Am, That's What I'm Not, released in early 2006, became the fastest-selling debut album in British music history, surpassing Oasis' Definitely Maybe and remains the fastest-selling debut album for a band in the UK.
The band's fourth album Suck It and See will be released on 6 June 2011.
I leave you with the last two singles from Arctic Monkeys, see you next time :)
