Arcade Fire

Arcade Fire

In 2001, Win Butler and Josh Deu, began performing small shows at lots and at art galleries in Boston, before moving to Montreal.

One of their earliest shows, were at a Christian music festival, Inside Out Soul Festival, and later at the Battle of the Bands, and some other shows at the Concordia University.

At that moment the band was consisted by Wine Butler, his future wife, RĂ©gine Chassangne, Josh Deu, Myles Broscoe, Dane Mills and Brendan Reed.

This initial band structure began to dissolve in the summer of 2002, when the band travelled to Buttler's family ranch in Maine, to record their sefl-title EP. Tension Buttler and Broscoe led the latter to exit the band followinf the recording session. So Richard Reed Parry, who had been helping with the band record, began to collaborate with them during the sessions and would go on to join the band shortly afterwards.

In 2003, the band celebrated the release of its EP, with a show at Montreal's Casa del Popolo. But this concerted ended in the middle of the encore, with an fight between Butler and Redd, who quit the ban on-stage. To save the concert, Win's brother, William Butler and Tim Kingsbury replaced Reed and Mills, and so that the band could continue the show.

Before the end of their first year together, the band got a record contract with the independent record label, Merge Records, and became what we know now.

So, i leave you today with anoter two songs from this fantastic band.
